About Diggs

I have worked with systems for 25 years, from Linux in the 1990s to B2B migrations and product development. Diggs is a research and development project on digital sovereignty: how European organisations can measure how dependent they are, and how that dependency can be reduced.

1998–

Background

The experience the project builds on.

  1. 1998

    Linux

I started with Linux on Red Hat 5.2 and have worked with open source and systems operations ever since.

→ The foundation for understanding infrastructure from the root level.

  2. 2003–2010

    Musician and self-employed

Crawling Duck Johnsen, from the basement to a Scandinavian tour. I handled booking, logistics, marketing, grant applications and production.

→ This is where I learned that distribution matters as much as the product.

  3. 2009–2012

    Hi-Fi Klubben

From the warehouse to a central role in launching “Tilbudstorget”, which connected store inventories with the online shop. Organised customer club events, including with Øyafestivalen.

→ Experience integrating physical and digital systems.

  4. 2012–2023

    Fanbooster / 24SevenSocial

Head of Customer Success. Opened the Oslo office and was the link between customers, management and developers in a company that became an official Facebook Partner.

→ Translating between technology and commercial needs, where many open-source projects fall short.

  5. Today

    Akari AS

Product manager at Akari. Certified Google Partner. I work daily with Google Workspace for B2B customers and see why the large platforms are chosen.

→ An alternative has to understand why the established option wins.

  6. Going forward

    The R&D project

Diggs will investigate how European organisations can measure and reduce digital dependency, and what it takes for independent alternatives to actually be adopted. I am looking for partners and funding to do this as a research project.

Disclosures

Funding and disclosures

Diggs is self-funded and run in my spare time. In autumn 2026 I began conversations with researchers and practitioners in academia and the health sector about turning the work into a research project. Nothing has been formalised. The next step is to establish whether there is a basis for a joint application for pre-project funding.

I am a product lead at Akari, which sells Google Workspace. The inbox for diggs.no is in Google Workspace.

The same disclosures are at the end of every article where they apply.
